Summary: The primary purpose of the FactoryFunc was to support LITE mode where the ObjectRegistry was not available. With the removal of LITE mode, the function was no longer required. Note that the MergeOperator had some private classes defined in header files. To gain access to their constructors (and name methods), the class definitions were moved into header files.
